• ਇਹ ਖੋਜ ਆਇਲ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਲਿਮਟਿਡ (ਓਆਈਐਲ) ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਵਿਜੈਪੁਰਮ -2 ਖੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਅੰਡੇਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਕੰਢੇ ਦੇ ਬਲਾਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਈਡ੍ਰੋਕਾਰਬਨ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
• ਇਹ ਖੋਜ ਅੰਡੇਮਾਨ ਬੇਸਿਨ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਿਆਂਮਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਡੋਨੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਤੱਕ ਫੈਲੀ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਹਾਈਡ੍ਰੋਕਾਰਬਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ।
• ਖੂਹ ਨੂੰ 295 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ 2,650 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਟੀਚੇ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਤੱਕ ਪੁੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
