• Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda presented the award to representatives of Telangana’s Jeevandan programme in New Delhi.
•  As per the Union Health Ministry, Telangana reported a significantly higher rate of 4.88 organ donations per 10 lakh population during 2024, while the national average stood at 0.8 per 10 lakh population.
• In 2024, Telangana collected organs from 188 brain-dead donors and successfully performed 725 organ transplant surgeries.
•  In recognition of this achievement, the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) presented this award to Telangana.
• Furthermore, organ transplant surgeries in Telangana are being provided free of cost under the Arogyasri scheme.
