India’s Cold Desert Biosphere Reserve joins UNESCO’s World Network / ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਕੋਲਡ ਡੈਜ਼ਰਟ ਬਾਇਓਸਫੀਅਰ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਯੂਨੈਸਕੋ ਦੇ ਵਰਲਡ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਇਆ
- India’s Cold Desert Biosphere Reserve in Himachal Pradesh has been included in UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav announced on Saturday.
- The recognition came during the 37th Session of UNESCO’s International Coordinating Council – Man and the Biosphere, held on September 27.
- With this addition, India now has 13 biosphere reserves listed in the prestigious global network.

Spanning approximately 7,770 square kilometers, the reserve is situated in the high-altitude, dramatic landscapes of the Lahaul-Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh.
- ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ, ਜੰਗਲਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਵਾਯੂ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭੁਪੇਂਦਰ ਯਾਦਵ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਕੋਲਡ ਡੈਜ਼ਰਟ ਬਾਇਓਸਫੀਅਰ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਨੈਸਕੋ ਦੇ ਵਰਲਡ ਨੈਟਵਰਕ ਆਫ ਬਾਇਓਸਫੀਅਰ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
- ਇਹ ਮਾਨਤਾ 27 ਸਤੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਯੂਨੈਸਕੋ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਸ਼ਦ - ਮੈਨ ਐਂਡ ਬਾਇਓਸਫੀਅਰ ਦੇ 37 ਵੇਂ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
- ਇਸ ਵਾਧੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਭਾਰਤ ਕੋਲ ਹੁਣ ਵੱਕਾਰੀ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਚੀਬੱਧ 13 ਬਾਇਓਸਫੀਅਰ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਹਨ।

ਲਗਭਗ 7,770 ਵਰਗ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਇਹ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਲਾਹੌਲ-ਸਪੀਤੀ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਉਚਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਟਕੀ ਲੈਂਡਸਕੇਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ।
