International Day of the Older Persons
- Theme - “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being and Our Rights”
- International Day of the Older Persons is observed on 1 October every year to raise problems faced by elder persons and to promote the development of a society for all ages.
- The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 14 December 1990 and designated 1 October as the International Day of Older Persons.
- ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਪੇਸ਼ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਉਮਰ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ 1 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਦਿਵਸ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਮਹਾਸਭਾ ਨੇ 14 ਦਸੰਬਰ 1990 ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਮਤਾ ਅਪਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ 1 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕੀਤਾ।
